10/29/10 - TSSOC 2010-2011 Season Update

It has been a busy season for Tri-State in 2010, and we have some exciting news!

First of all, we'd like to welcome our newest members to the team: Shifty, Mongoose, Rocky, Titan, and Diesel. These five individuals were each in our application process for over a year. They've shown tremendous dedication, perseverance, and skill over the course of that time, and have each earned a place on our team. Each year we hold at least one Meet and Greet Day for potential applicants to come get to know the team, and for the team to get to know the applicants. Those members of the paintball community interested in joining the team are encouraged to fill out an application and to make every effort to attend.

With most of the season behind us, TSSOC is busy gearing up for 2011. So far this year we've been privileged to play alongside many teams who we usually end up shooting at as well as old and new friends. 2010 has been a great year for scenario paintball, and we will continue to contribute to that positive growth.

TSSOC's 2010 production Fallout: Wasteland scenario at Poco Loco Paintball was a huge success, with twice the attendance of 2009's Red Dawn. We were glad to see so many people return for our second production as well as new faces as well. The event was met with great reviews and we look forward to seeing everyone back in 2011.

On January 22-23 2011, TSSOC will be producing Shogun at Island Paintball in Hawaii. TSSOC has attended 3 events at this field over the last 3 years, and we were honored by the request for us to produce the 2011 event. The event is based on the clash between two powerful clans of feudal Japan. Start planning now so you can play paintball in paradise!

Finally, we're happy to announce our 2011 production of Army of Darkness at Poco Loco. The date is still TBD, so check our site often for details on what's shaping up to be a really fun game. Anyone interested in participating as a general in this event should send an e-mail to tssocpaintball@gmail.com.

11/21/09 - Tri-State Special Operations Command takes Most Valuable Team at SplatBrothers' Mask of The Red Death

Mask of the Red Death

TSSOC once again took to I-95 southbound to play in the "Mask of the Red Death" presented by SplatBrothers Paintball in beautiful Hopewell, Virginia. Based on the Edgar Allan Poe short story of the same name the game pitted the plague-infected Peasants under the command of Team BeBop's "Jet" against Prince Prospero's sequestered Nobles, led by Lufen, also of Team BeBop. True to Poe's tale the Nobles have sequestered themselves inside of Prospero's abbey to protect themselves from contracting a terrible disease that has devastated their lands and Peasantry. The Peasants have something else in mind as they race towards the abbey seeking shelter from the oncoming pestilence. Can the Nobles keep the diseased rabble of commoners at bay and survive the great plague? Will the Peasants penetrate the inner cloister of the abbey and infect the huddled Nobles with the dreaded Red Death? With such a unique and fascinating game ahead of them Tri-State's warriors eagerly stood ready for the start of the coming battle.

Playing for the Peasant side TSSOC took to the field and received their first orders of the day: Move into and secure Maze City, an area of the field notorious for its dense foliage, vicious ambushes and intense, close-quarter firefights. Led by Captain Chris "Topher" Matsinger, Tri-State's shooters hoped to reach the objective before the forces of the Nobles could. Arriving to find the Maze uncontested Tri-State quickly established a perimeter and secured the objective accomplishing the mission and earning the first points of the day for their team. In a matter of seconds a massive contingent of Noble forces arrived on station and began attacking Maze City. Having already achieved their mission and wanting to maintain Tri-State's combat effectiveness, Topher ordered his men into a fighting withdrawal back to friendly territory and awaited further orders. From that point on Tri-State moved quickly accomplishing a large number of missions with near impunity while also turning back Noble attacks on the Peasant base. Running alongside Assault and Battery and SoVa made life a lot nicer for Tri-State with each team leading coordinated attacks making the Peasant side run with efficient precision. On the other side of the field the Death Dealers gave TSSOC fits all day with superb play. It is a rare treat to play against a bunch of guys committed to fair play and good ol' fashioned southern hospitality.

At the end of the day the Peasants were able to get the best of the Nobles and securing the win with a score of 55,000 to 48,000 points. This was one of the best games all year for Tri-State with fierce competition, excellent camaraderie, and extremely fair play. For their efforts Tri-State Special Operations Command was awarded Most Valuable Team for the Peasant forces. General Jet stated "TSSOC, what else can I say you guys ruled the field, stuck with me and stayed on the field walking up and down those dang hills all day long, you guys earned MVT hands down, thank you again for all the efforts." And perhaps best summing up TSSOC's day at Splatbrothers, John "Thunder" DePaolantonio added "I've heard it before and I'll say it again. WOW!!! What a great time playing at Splat brothers. I think it was one of the best games I've played in the last 2 years and a great way to end the season."

10/24/09 - Tri-State invades Plattekill, NY for Black Market War's Battle for Heartbreak Ridge

Black Market War

TSSOC made its first, and certainly not last, trip to the famous World Cup Woodsball fields of Paintball Sports Inc. to take part in what shaped up to be one of the finest paintball events the team has ever attended. Hosted by Daniel "Barney" Alamo the "Battle for Heartbreak Ridge" was based upon the Korean War battle of the same name. The game pitted two of the game's heavyweights as generals featuring Eric Engler heading up the U.N. Forces while Sean Scott led the K.P.A. into battle. The game also featured an all-new format emphasizing role play and encouraging players to think before they simply pulled the trigger. The two-day event proved to be nothing short of spectacular as Tri-State fielded the Tippmann X7 Phenom for the first time in a public scenario game.

True to history, the game started off with the U.N. forces attacking the K.P.A. from the bottom of a steep ridge. In a drenching downpour on Saturday Tri-State continually pounded the opposition from the steepest part of the ridge alongside the rest of the U.N. forces over and over again despite getting pushed back repeatedly from well entrenched K.P.A. Over the ensuing hours and with intense fire fights back and forth the ridge was finally controlled by U.N. forces. TSSOC was ordered to provide base security for the U.N. general midday and were tested by a rogue enemy force who had managed to make their way through much of the U.N.'s side. Tri-State held off any advance the opposition made towards them before giving way to U.N. reinsertions. Pushing the battle line back towards the base of the K.P.A., the U.N. forces slogged through the mud for much of the day. Alongside fellow U.N. teams such as Blue's Crew and Wild Cards, Tri-State eventually found themselves at the door step of the enemy base and in a crushing maneuver dismantled the enemy side and overran their base.

On Sunday the weather was near perfect for paintball and TSSOC hit the field tasked with holding the right side of the ridge. Both sides took heavy losses as the ridge was assaulted early before the U.N. side once again pushed onto the K.P.A. base. Tri-State spearheaded an assault against an opposing enemy insertion freeing up the rest of the U.N. line to capture the base and recover props for the winning effort.

The U.N. side earned a well fought victory and Tri-State was pleased to have played a part in it. The X7 Phenoms proved their worth performing admirably given the playing conditions on Saturday. Many players approached the team's base camp to get a look at Tippmann's new marker as they left the field. The game lived up to all of the hype and the field and it's host truly made the weekend all that it was.

10/21/09 - TSSOC Review of the new Tippmann X-7 Phenom!

Tippmann X-7 Phenom

The secret is out and Tri-State Special Operations Command is here to confirm that the next evolution in marker design is here with Tippmann's new X-7 Phenom. On the surface the new marker closely resembles the X-7 but looks can be deceiving. Under the hood of the all-aluminum receiver of this mil-sim beauty features a completely new "Flex Valve" technology that offers the smooth, kick-free, regulated low-pressure operation of a high-end electro. Now before you get concerned that this will make things more complicated let us put your fears to rest as Tippmann has completely maintained it's legendary reliability and simplicity. The Phenom delivers everything a hard core paintballer or someone new to the game could ever want and more. Performance, reliability, and customization all blended together for pure paintball goodness!

9/12/09 - West Point Fall Combat Classic

West Point Fall Combat Classic

The morning of September 12, 2009 started out like any other for the players of the West Point Fall game. Both sides awoke to the concussive scream of artillery blasts and hiss of machine gun fire at 6 AM on a cool rainy morning eager to see what the Cadets from West Point had in store for them.

At game start, TSSOC, alongside the rest of the American troops, climbed the mountain side they were to fight up for the weekend. Japanese troops came crashing down at TSSOC from the mountain top with an intensity nearly unmatched. Immediately the American side knew it would be a hard fought battle for every inch of dirt and mud that they could earn. But even with all the efforts the American side could muster, the Japanese side pushed the Americans back down the mountain all day Saturday. Despite every last ounce of effort and constant bombardment of troops to get to the top of the hill the Japanese held a decisive lead in points at the end of the first day.

Artillery and machine gun fire once again cut into the cool air Sunday morning readying both sides for the battle ahead. Tired from the arduous combat and the dreary weather on Saturday, TSSOC and their stalwart American allies once again clambered from their racks to recommence the attack on the Japanese held hill. Sunday brought a new life to the American side who, with renewed effort and determination, continued to push with all the strength they could muster and fought back to close the point gap. By the day's end and the sound of the final horn the Japanese forces came out victorious.

This game was well fought and executed from both sides of the battlefield. As usual, cadets of West Point put on an awesome event, taking the time and effort to set up a truly realistic and historically-based game, and Tri-State salutes them for all of their work. The terrain at West Point is second to none in the paintball world and TSSOC will be coming back for sure in 2010.

8/30/09 - TSSOC has a "Phenom"enal weekend at the Tippmann Extravaganza!

Tippmann Extravaganza

Over the weekend of August 29, 2009 this year's edition of the Tippmann Extravaganza, produced by Viper Scenarios, was held at EMR Paintball Park in New Milford, PA and TSSOC was there to take part in all of the fun. It was a rare game from the general standpoint as both were first timers in the role adding more intrigue to another quality paintball event put on by Kerry "Viper" Rosenberry and his staff. Tri-State played on the Delta Force side for Jason "Wyrm" Rossow and was immediately put to the test by the opposition. Lt. Chris "DeathX" Crawford remarked, "I never had such a good time getting destroyed as I did..."

Indeed the Russian forces beat back the Delta side all weekend frequently overrunning the Delta Force base. With superior numbers, the Russian side kept Wyrm's forces contained but they continued to fight hard throughout the weekend. Rephy, captain of Ambush Alpha/Joint Fury said, "DeathX, you did your team proud. I was done for the day at the final battle and watched you time and time again run out under heavy fire, never giving up, as well as many others." TSSOC never quit bringing the heat time and time again in a valiant effort to turn the tide on the Russians. In the end the Russian side prevailed in a well earned victory.

All was not lost for the TSSOC's in attendance as they were asked by Tippmann to wield the brand-new Tippmann X-7 Phenom markers while they shot video footage for the upcoming Tippmann X-7 Phenom launch video. It was Tri-State's first foray into video production and the results came out fantastic. Check out the X-7 Phenom launch video on Tippmann.com for more details and to see TSSOC in action.

7/18/09 - Tri-State wins Sportsmanship Award at ION 2009!

ION 09

Skirmish's Invasion of Normandy is one of the largest annual paintball events and this year was no different as 3500 players gathered for the one amazing weekend of paintball! TSSOC took a command role in the game and First Lieutenant DeathX stepped up as Bravo Company Commander for the Allied forces - working heavily with the Allied General on the battle strategy in the months leading up to the game.

Tensions were high Saturday morning as Tri-State and their Allied brothers prepared for the most intense two hours of pure chaos found in paintball - the Beach Invasion. When the boat gates dropped, the Allied forces pushed hard on the German front and did not stop until they were at the tree line. Allies concentrated on one section of the front and coordinated wave after wave of attack until the line was broken.

After a successful beach invasion, the Germans stuck it to the Allied forces - almost crushing their resolve. The battles were hard-fought with the Germans maintaining a solid lead throughout the day. However, night play marked a turnaround in the momentum of the game, allowing the Allies to scratch and claw to within striking distance to the German point total.

After hearing news of our night play success, the rest of the Allied forces came out strong on day two. The battle turned for both sides all day until the final hours of the game. The Allies fought valiantly but in the end the German forces were too overwhelming and scored a victory.

At the conclusion of the scenario, TSSOC was honored to receive the Sportsmanship Award for the Allied forces. The team sincerely appreciated recognition for playing with honor and fairness throughout the game - not an easy task at a game like ION.

6/6/09 - TSSOC's Ram earns most valuable player at BioWars 2 at Skirmish

BioWars II

MECKESVILLE, PA - Tri-State ventured once again to the fields of Skirmish to participate in BioWars 2, a G-Force Production continuing the battles of the Villagers, Mercenaries, and Mutants for the island of Thorpia. Joined by members of Help Nelson, Team Infamous, and 13th Legionnaires, TSSOC took the role of the Mutants, led by Grazi of The 13th Legionnaires.

The skies were cloudy and grey in the early morning, but the weather cleared for a fantastic day of paintball. Fighting odds of 2 to 1 or greater, TSSOC took the field with a commanding presence from the first whistle, which was evident as the walk-on players fell in line with the team and made some very good pushes to secure flag stations around the field. Good communications and the new Multicam uniforms helped the team consistently be a thorn in the side of the Opfor throughout the day.

TSSOC was a major force to be reckoned with in the final battle of the game. Paint rained down on the opposing forces as the Mutant forces scored a decisive win. In the end though, it would not be enough, as the overwhelming numbers facing the team prevented an overall Mutant victory. The day was not a complete loss for Tri-State though, as Corporal Ralph "Ram" Mastrangelo scored his first Most Valuable Player award for his role as the Mutant team Ambassador.

Although bruised and exhausted at the end of the day, TSSOC looks forward to once again being a dominant force at the conclusion of the BioWars trilogy next year!

5/30/09 - Tri-State Special Operations Command Takes on NVA Regulars at New Jersey NAM

NJ NAM 09

With its brutal ambushes, grueling trench warfare, exhilarating tank engagements and ferocious night fighting, New Jersey NAM is one of the most anticipated and well-attended games in the mid-Atlantic region each year. Hosted by USANA shooting club, NJ NAM is the high-water mark of the spring scenario paintball season, and Tri-State came out to battle in this excellent arena. This year, the playing field was quite different than in years past, with an unusual horseshoe-like shape that contained a wide variety of terrain features. This setup would be sure to put their training and tactical thinking to the test, Tri-State was eager for the battle to begin!

From the start of the game, Tri-State seized the initiative, moving rapidly toward their objective and leading the American forces into battle. It was the area of elaborate trenches and dense foliage at the field's most narrow section, known as Firebase Charlie, which was Tri-State's primary objective. Charged with pushing the flanks while their allies held the center of the American line, Tri-State arrived to find Firebase Charlie already in the hands of the North Vietnamese, who were heavily dug-in and supported by several armored vehicles. Undaunted, Tri-State pushed forward, assaulting under heavy enemy fire and outflanking the entrenched NVA regulars, establishing a base of fire and dispatching their elite anti-armor units to destroy the enemy tanks. The North Vietnamese, now facing an onslaught from three sides, fell back to secondary defensive positions to slow the American advance. With Firebase Charlie secured, the American forces consolidated their foothold on this vital objective while Tri-State continued their push toward the enemy base.

Throughout the battle, Tri-State's warriors were in the thick of the battle, disrupting enemy reinforcements, leading American units, and completing missions assigned by American command. One such mission in particular would throw Tri-State into the middle of a genuine, large scale tank battle! Ordered to take and hold a vital crossroads for use by American armor, Tri-State secured the objective as numerous American armor units rolled past. The North Vietnamese, however, had armor units of their own, and were not going to allow the Americans to own this vital position without a fight! With vehicle after vehicle joining the melee and tank rounds flying, Tri-State members set about eliminating the enemy's infantry, leaving AMerican armor free to engage the enemy tanks and open up the road to the enemy's headquarters. By the end of the second day, Tri-State and the American forces had secured enough points for a victory in the battle, and Tri-State salutes the North Vietnamese forces for their fair play and tenacious opposition. Tri-State had an excellent game, and will be eagerly awaiting next year's exciting New Jersey NAM!

5/3/09 - Tri-State earns MVT and scores a win at Junkyard Wars 2!

Junkyard Wars II

30% chance of rain turned into a torrential downfall for most of the day at LVP South in Hatfield PA, where team Hellkatz put on Junkyard Wars 2 - a scenario pitting Fred Sanford and his cronies against Fat Albert's crew in a war over the junkyard. Tri-State played for Fat Albert, headed up by JPazz of team Wulfpak, taking on the Sanford teams including the 13th Legionnaires, Barney and Friends, Joint Fury, and Ambush Alpha to name a few. Tri-State knew it would be a tough day going up against such competition and was ready for the challenge.

Tri-State hit the field and immediately and secured the right flank of the soaking, muddy field - moving up to take a key objective and complete the first mission of the day. Throughout the battle, TSSOC completed many missions and pushed the line further and further toward the Sanford base. As the rain continued, many players started having problems with equipment - however, Tri-State had no issues with their all-weather Tippmann X-7s, playing through the heaviest downpour we have seen in years!

The final battle pitted Fat Albert's crew attacking the Sanford team in LVP's central fort structure. Fat Albert pushed quickly to the perimeter and in a short time, TSSOC members were breaching the structure on two walls simultaneously! The final horn sounded a victory for the Fat Albert Crew!

TSSOC members also filled some of the player-roles for Fat Albert's Crew, including Professor as Donald, Ram as Harold, Bulldog as Bucky and Keg as the Brown Hornet. Player roles were a huge factor in the game, negotiating deals with other role-players, gathering intel and buying and selling game props that contributed to a really fun scenario game.

At the post-game ceremony, TSSOC was awarded the Most Valuable Team for the Fat Albert Crew! Tri-state would like to thank all the great teams and players who came out to play in the soaking slug-fest at the junkyard!

4/18/09 - TSSOC battles the occult at Splatbrothers Paintball Park

Hellstorm of the Third Reich

Hopewell, Virginia - Tri-State Special Operations Command paintball team made the journey down to Splatbrothers Paintball Park once again for one of their largest games of the season: Hellstorm of the Third Reich, fighting for the Allied forces under the command of General Nyxx Valor of Team Solace in their battle against General MJ of team Pub Crawling and his seasoned German forces. With the quality of the teams arrayed against them, Tri-State knew that this would be a hard-fought battle, and were eagerly waiting to hit the field!

At game start, Tri-State rushed to their objective - take and hold Concrete City and wait for reinforcements to hold back the German forces. TSSOC arrived at Concrete City just as their German counterparts started taking up position. Knowing Concrete City was key to the entire Allied left flank, Tri-State's XO, Capt. Chris "Topher" Matsinger ordered his men forward, with instructions to breach and sweep each structure and dig the enemy out of their positions. Despite taking heavy casualties, Tri-State was able to take a large number of enemy held positions before allied reinforcements relieved them. Through the rest of the day, Tri-State was utilized constantly by the Allied general in completing missions, strong-pointing enemy forces, and rallying Allied troops.

As the Sun faded and night fell upon the field, Tri-State was called upon once more to engage the German forces - this time in the impenetrable darkness. Using their extensive night-fighting training and tactics, Tri-State maneuvered carefully though the blackness, foiling several German attempts to break the Allied perimeter to eliminate their general. Despite the efforts of Tri-State and the Allied forces, the Germans were able to break through Allied defenses and score a number of general kills, giving them a point lead before play broke for the night.

As the game restarted Sunday morning, the Allies were determined to make up for some lost ground. They hit the unsuspecting Germans hard from the opening whistle, pushing them back to their inner defensive perimeter. While the German forces were occupied with the defense of their headquarters, Tri-State set about completing as many missions as possible. The German counteroffensive was a tenacious one, and Tri-State members were tasked with plugging holes in the line to prevent a German breakout. Through their persistence, the Allied forces were able to make up much of the point difference from the previous day's play.

Despite the Allies' courageous comeback on day two, the Germans had secured enough points on the first day to give them the overall point lead and the win for the game. Both sides fought with honor, and Tri-State salutes the German forces for their hard-earned victory. The team had an excellent time in Virginia, and would like to thank Splatbrothers and Team Assault and Battery for putting on such an excellent and well-organized scenario game.

3/28/09 - Tri-State Special Operations Command presents RED DAWN!

3/1/09 - TSSOC hosts Applicant/Training Day at PocoLoco Paintball

Applicant/Training Day

March 1 marked TSSOC's first applicant recruiting and training event for 2009. The team met nine new recruits at our home field Poco Loco Paintball for a day of evaluation and training led by our Recruit Evaluation and Assessment Combat Team (REACT) NCOICs Pete "Keg" Walker and Simon "Bulldog" Nadler.

The day began with a brief introduction from each of our applicants followed by some kind words of encouragement from our senior NCO SGM Nightmare. "You have to earn your place on this team! We don't just hand these patches out to anyone who shows up with a marker! Everything you do from here on out will be a test and we will be watching."

TSSOC broke into two squads to begin the day's drills on Poco's Deadwood field where we enjoyed a little force-on-force gameplay amongst the numerous buildings and bunkers across the field. We then moved up to the castle to practice some close-quarter combat and taking a reinforced structure. We took a short break where TSSOC's Training team reviewed some basic hand signals, formations, and movement drills and then moved the squads up to Shanghai Village to continue our evaluations and training exercises.

At the end of the day Tri-State was impressed with what we saw in our newest crop of recruits! The team would like to thank the applicants for bringing their "A" game all day and for showing us what you are made of. Some of these applicants will surely prove they have what it takes to be a member of TSSOC!

1/25/09 - TSSOC earns Most Valuable Team award at Hawaii scenario "A Royal Wedding"

A Royal Wedding

For the second year in a row, Tri-State Special Operations Command made the journey from Philadelphia, PA to Oahu, Hawaii for fun, sun and scenario paintball. "A Royal Wedding," presented by Island Paintball and Oahu Scenarios was a two-day scenario game based on the film The Princess Bride. TSSOC chose to play for the vicious yet hilarious Pirate team again, hoping for a bit of a rematch from last year. Last year's trip to the Hawaii was one of Tri-State's most memorable expeditions of the season, and with this year's game promising to be even more action-packed, Tri-State's shooters couldn't wait for the game to begin!

With the bellowing sound of an air horn, the game was on. Right from the beginning Tri-State was tasked with whipping around the enemy's flanks and engaging them from the rear. Tri-State was able to penetrate deep behind enemy lines, disrupting enemy communications and allowing the primary Pirate strike force to quickly overrun the headquarters of their Goon foes. All through the day, Tri-State worked closely with their commanding officer to maximize their tactical usefulness and bring in the most points possible for the Pirate forces. Tri-State's own Sgt. Michael "Chops" Zigon used his tactical knowledge and radio protocols to act as liaison between the General's overall strategy and the troops in the field. Despite spending much of the first day defending their headquarters, the Pirates still managed to score quality points by completing mission after mission.

By the second day, Tri-State's shooters had mastered the terrain and were using it to their advantage to accomplish their objectives. "This jungle setting is unbelievable, and is completely different from anything you would see back on the east coast," said Tri-State Private Sean "Khaos" Farley. In one particular mission, Tri-State was tasked with building a flower arrangement as a gift for the Princess Butterfinger while on the move and taking sniper fire from all sides. Though the Pirates held on to a slight lead by the end of the second day, the unrelenting determination of the Goon forces threatened that lead at every turn and forced Tri-State to remain on its guard if they wanted to hold onto it.

After two hard fought days of paintball in the Hawaiian jungle, the moment came for the final battle. In the center of the field stood the Princess, who needed to be escorted by either side back to that side's base for the win. With the point count so tight, the Pirate forces needed a win in this battle to solidify their victory. Despite a fearsome volley of fire by Goon forces, the Pirate forces were able to secure the Princess and escort her back unharmed in under four minutes.

At the end of the weekend, a battered yet resolute Pirate force scored a victory over their relentless Goon foes. For the second year in a row, Tri-State Special Operations Command was awarded the Most Valuable Team for the Pirate forces! TSSOC salutes our opposing Goon forces and thanks them for a hard-fought and honorable game! Tri-State would also like to thank Island Paintball for always being such quality hosts, Gary Baum of Paintball Photography and our new and old friends from the island including Argent Force, Damage Inc, and Lockdown.

11/22/08 - Tri-State Special Operations Command takes on the Marines in the Battle of Iwo Jima at SplatBrothers Paintball Park

Battle of Iwo Jima

HOPEWELL, VA - At 0700 hours on an unseasonably frigid Virginia morning, Tri-State Special Operations Command paintball team mustered their ranks to participate in the SplatBrothers R.A.W. series "Battle for Iwo Jima." Modeled after the legendary World War II invasion of the Pacific island of Iwo Jima, this battle promised to a particularly difficult one, for today the players would have to struggle with the biting cold of Mother Nature as well as with the ferocity of their opponents. Knowing the challenges that lay ahead of them, Tri-State's warriors fervently prepared themselves to battle the U.S. Marines and repulse them at all costs!

With the beginning battle upon them, Tri-State rushed to their objective to take a hold a position known as "The Village," while their comrades from team Assault and Battery were tasked with securing firing positions along the enemy's extreme left flank. The Imperial Japanese forces, under the command of General Nate "Farva" Postle, sought to repel the onslaught of the United States Marines, under the command of General Becky "O" O'Neil, by quickly enveloping and suppressing any attempts to break out of the area surrounding their HQ. After putting the Marine skirmishers in the village to flight, Tri-State secured the objective and took up defensive positions. Once the early points were secured, Tri-State received orders to advance into the infamous SplatBrothers Barn, the center of the field and arguably the most fought-over objective in the park. Tri-State zealously assaulted the position and eliminated the defenders as they attempted to flee back to secondary positions. From inside the Barn, Tri-State poured heavy weapons fire into the American lines, breaking their defensive lines and allowing Japanese troops to lead an assault directly on the American HQ for the first Base Kill of the day.

Not long after the American General was eliminated, the U.S. Marines came seeking retribution by attacking the Japanese right flank in-force and eliminating their outermost defensive positions. Tri-State was called upon once again, this time to repel the American onslaught to the last man. The Japanese forces began to turn back their opponents when a well-placed bazooka round found its way to the Japanese C.P. and destroyed it. Their mission objective secured, the Marines withdrew back to defensive positions. After reestablishing themselves, the Japanese general once more ordered Tri-State into the fray. "We were on the move all day, taking objectives and holding positions for points," said Corporal Bob "Boss" Bosco, "Our maneuvering and coordination with other squads on our team was top-notch, and I was very impressed!"

Tri-State took part in the Final Battle with a difficult mission to achieve: Take and hold the flag station at the bottom of the speed ravine and raise the Japanese flag there for points. At the start of the final battle, Tri-State rushed the ravine, taking up superior positions and pouring highly accurate fire into the enemy lines. The Americans, however, held fast in the face of this ferocity, returning fire and determined to hold their positions. Despite the courageous efforts of the Imperial Japanese forces, the US Marines were able to secure enough points from the final battle to eke out a 340 to 320 point win on the slopes of Mount Suribachi, and Tri-State congratulates them on a very hard-fought win. Both sides fought with tenacity and honor, and are to be commended for their play. Tri-state had a very successful day, despite the freezing temperatures wreaking havoc with the performance of their equipment, and was able to represent themselves well in spite of the weather. Tri-State had a great time in Virginia, and is eager to get back to SplatBrothers for their 2009 season!

10/6/08 - Poco Loco Paintball is the new home of Tri-State Special Operations Command!

Poco Loco Paintball

TSSOC is thrilled to announce an exclusive partnership with Poco Loco Paintball, the area's premier paintball field located outside Philadelphia in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Poco Loco encompasses 11 different fields spread out over 50 acres of unique and varied terrain. For TSSOC our new relationship is a dream come true.

"One of the things we're most excited about is the variety of terrain," says TSSOC CO Major James "Dino" Dinardo. "Whether for a team practice, scenario play, or simply down-and-dirty rec-ball, Poco offers the most interesting and re-playable fields in the area."

For most of the team, this new partnership is the solidification of a relationship going back as far as 14 years. "I played my first paintball at Poco Loco in 1994," says TSSOC Sgt. Mike "Chops" Zigon. "Though I travel regularly to play in scenarios all over the country, I always seem to end up back at Poco!" Other members like Lieutenant Chris "DeathX" Crawford and Warrant Officer Michael "Brick" Sturner, have been regular fixtures at Poco Loco seemingly every weekend for many years.

Owner/Operator Jeff Haas is thrilled to have TSSOC call Poco Loco their home field. They represent the elite of scenario paintball and I'm excited to be working with them now and into the future."

Poco Loco will not only function as Tri-State's primary training facility, but also as a home for future events. The team looks forward to producing and hosting scenario games, charity events and more beginning in the 2009 season.

TSSOC is proud and excited to call Poco Loco Paintball home, and looks forward to great games at a great field! Visit Poco Loco Paintball for field photos, pricing and event schedule. For location and directions, visit our Field Locator.

9/20/08 - TSSOC earns MVT with a victory over Allied Forces in the Battle of Monte Cassino!

Battle for Monte Cassino

On a beautiful September morning in southeastern Virginia, Tri-State Special Operations Command established base camp, readied their gear, and prepared to engage the Allied forces in the Battle of Monte Cassino at Splatbrothers paintball park. The Allied teams under the command of Spike from Team BeBop sought to secure the hilltop Abbey early in the battle and establish a fortified defensive line to prevent the Germans from gaining a foothold on this key position. However, the German forces led by Jet, also of Team BeBop, had other ideas. TSSOC was given standing orders to be on the offensive constantly, relying on lightning-fast and non-stop attacks to achieve and secure their objectives.

The game began with the tremendous sound of a simulation artillery round, and Tri-State moved toward their first objective: Take and hold Monte Cassino Abbey at all costs. Making their way up the heavily fortified hill toward their objective, Tri-State employed the bounding over watch techniques to quickly suppress and envelop pockets of Allied resistance. Once they reached the Abbey itself (a large, two-story barn,) Tri-State members stacked the door, softened up the opfor with grenades, and made entry, quickly eliminating all resistance. After securing the primary objective, Tri-State received orders to rally our remaining forces and lead an assault on the Allied base directly.

The Allied base was comprised of a heavily fortified series of trenches and towers, with opfor lying in wait to defend every inch of it. Below the towers, in the center of Allied web of defenses, was an air horn which had to be sounded to signal a successful "base kill" and score points for the German side. While the rest of the German team assaulted the trenches directly, Tri-State moved around the Allied flanks and assaulted the towers directly to take these critical positions. With the towers secured, the German forces began to eliminate the Allied defenders from above, while Tri-State members on the ground moved in to sound the horn and signal the first "base kill" of the game.

From the first base kill, initiative and momentum was with the German forces, repulsing wave after wave of Allied troops attempting to break through our battle line. Digging in, Tri-State members and their fellow German forces secured a perimeter that allowed them to score multiple base kills, which lasted only until a gutsy and aggressive flanking maneuver by General Spike's Allied forces broke the siege and forced the Germans back to Monte Cassino. "Tri-State was in the thick of it all day, flanking positions, laying down suppressing fire, and sweeping structures for OpFor," said Tri-State XO, Capt. Chris "Topher" Matsinger. "We were all over that field and I am proud of how well the team performed."

After a long day of hard fighting, it was time for the hour long final battle. The goal: to get our side's battle standard into a tower and own the tower at the end of the battle. Tri-State volunteered to bear the standard for the German forces and lead our troops into battle. At the end of a furious, hour long firefight, the German team had secured the center tower for the points and the overall win on the day! Our Allied opponents put up a fierce fight, and we salute them for their honorable and tenacious play. For their Efforts on the field, TSSOC was awarded the Most Valuable Team award for the German forces. Tri-State members had an excellent day, and are looking forward to their next game at SplatBrothers!

8/30/08 - Tri-State at Tippmann Extravaganza 2008

Tippmann Extravaganza

Nestled high in the mountains of northern Pennsylvania lies one of paintball's most venerable and unique fields: EMR Paintball Park, the site of the 2008 Tippmann Extravaganza. Five members of the Tri-State Special Operations Command Paintball team made their way to this classic field, looking to lend their firepower to the Allied team. The weather was cool and clear, a perfect day for a paintball battle, and Tri-State was eager to begin!

The opening horn brought a massive German onslaught upon the hastily improvised Allied positions. The German assault consisted of infantry supported by armor, and the Allies were forced onto the defensive early in the battle, attempting to repulse the attack. TSSOC, along with members of Yankee Division Paintball Team, were ordered by the Allied General, Dustin "PsYchO" Farrell of Team Delta, to counter-assault the German left flank and attempt to divert German reinforcements, while the Allied forces attempt to break the German center and gain control of the field. Tri-State engaged the flank of the main German force, eliminating several defenders before the Germans knew what hit them. This flanking maneuver created the opening which allowed the main Allied force to advance forward through the confused Germans to the highly defensible positions in the center of the field. "The full foliage and hilly terrain of this field lends itself well to our style of play," said Pvt. Jeremy "Jester" Brosious, "It is exacly this style of deep woods fighting that Tri-State loves!"

Later in the day, the German command attempted a bold maneuver in retaliation. Pushing through the Allied far right flank, the German shock troops made an end run around behind Allied positions towards their CP. Hearing the call on the radio that the rear sentries had been heavily engaged, Tri-State and Yankee Division disengaged from their current fight and rushed to the rear of the Allied base, where they found a sizeable German force advancing up the hill towards their flank. Skirmishing with the German forces, Tri-State was able to hold off their cunning attack until further reinforcements from team Delta and team Ragnarok could arrive. Tri-State then moved back to the front to further assist the Allied advance.

Despite the courageous efforts of the Allied Forces, the German team managed to hold on for the overall point lead and the win for the event, and Tri-State salutes them for their excellent, honorable play. "Win or lose, EMR is always a great field to play," Said Spc. John "Thunder" DePaolantonio. "I am never disappointed by these games."

7/12/08 - Tri-State Special Operations Command takes on the German War Machine at IoN 2008

ION 2008

The epic Invasion of Normandy 24-hour scenario game at Skirmish USA is a traditional high-water mark for the summer paintball season. Every year, thousands of players from all across America make the journey to be just a small part of this extraordinary paintball event. This year, the battle promised to be a fierce one, with three thousand players going head-to-head simultaneously on Skirmish's 700 acres, making the Invasion of Normandy the premier paintball event in the world. After a crushing defeat at the hands of the Allies in the prior year's Invasion, the German War Machine was looking for a little payback, and Tri-State stood ready and willing to defend last-year's Allied victory!

Under the supreme command of Allied General Phil "Silence" Whalen, Tri-State and their CO, Maj. James "BigDino" DiNardo, were charged with organizing and leading Echo company, which was comprised of approximately 100 players for the duration of the battle. Our orders were clear: Assault the center of the German line and hold them on Sword Beach while elements of Alpha, Bravo and Foxtrot companies hit the Germans hard on their right flank and sweep them off the beach, opening the beachhead to the bulk of the allied invasion force. With their landing craft full and the anticipation high, Tri-State eagerly awaited the task ahead.

Rushing from the boats, Tri-State lead Echo company in its thrust against the formidable German bulwark. Allies crept slowly up the beach, holding their fire until they were in range to conserve supplies and allowing the Germans to expend their ammunition on the advancing tide. Casualties we high in the opening wave as the highly accurate German rifle fire cut into the Allied ranks. Despite this, wave after wave of Allied reinforcements poured ashore, bolstering the assaulting ranks. After opening up a second front, Tri-State lead Echo company and elements from Foxtrot company as the Allies fought to extend the lines deeper into Normandy and secure their HQ. "This is the event we train all year for," said Maj. James "BigDino" DiNardo, "No other scenario allows Tri-State to play almost every aspect of mil-sim scenario paintball. From battlefield coordination and communications to unit tactics and maneuvers - this game has it all!"

After two days of hard fighting, the German's had beaten the tenacious and steadfast Allied invaders by only 19 points, giving them the overall victory. Both sides, battered but not broken, had played an excellent game, and Tri-State congratulates the German War Machine on their hard-fought victory. As always, TSSOC looks forward to going against them at next year's Invasion of Normandy!

6/7/08 - TSSOC and VC Forces battle for victory at NJ NAM 2008!

NJ NAM 08

On June 7th, 2008, Tri-State Special Operations Command joined USANA Paintball in New Jersey for the annual NJNAM Scenario Game. Over 1,000 players were divided into four factions that would be doing battle that weekend: Viet Cong, Americans, Cambodians, and the CIA. As part of the Viet Cong, Tri-State hit the battlefield with 18 troops alongside many other superb players including seven of our Yankee Division brethren.

At the whistle the VC exploded with a surge towards the enemy command post, laying waste to all Americans in their path. Within the first hour of the battle the Americans retaliated with a colossal and well-coordinated frontal assault through the neutral areas straight towards the VC HQ. Although many of the VC had been routed during the American assault, Tri-State and the reinserting VC were able to slam the Americans from the front and both flanks, forcing a US withdrawal. By mid-day the Americans were in a defensive stance within their shrinking borders as the VC took control of most of the field.

A misunderstanding caused the Cambodians to break their treaty of neutrality with the VC who had accidentally killed a member of the Cambodian military, and they now wanted revenge or war. The VC General called for three volunteers to sacrifice themselves in order to appease the Cambodians and uphold the treaty. For the good of the VC, Tri-State volunteered three of its members to be martyred who were subsequently and unnecessarily shot multiple times by a Cambodian death squad; but revenge would have to wait for Tri-State...

On day two the Cambodians decided to break the treaty. Unfortunately for them, the VC General was NOT interested in more so-called, "peace talks." Without warning the Viet Cong army charged into Cambodia full of bloodlust and vengeance, cutting down all Cambodians until their HQ was overrun! From that moment on through the rest of the game the VC owned all of Cambodia!! Full of momentum from the crushing of Cambodia, Tri-State and other VC teams went on a full force left flank, conquering everything in its path! The force swung way to behind the American CP where US forces were held for the rest of the game!

The weekend ended with a battle around a centralized flag station. Brave troopers from either side dashed towards the flag station under heavy fire trying to flip the flag to their color. In a dramatic showdown prior to the last seconds of the game, the VC were able to flip the flag to their color before the whistle blew to call the end of game, solidifying a VC win!

5/23/08 - Tri-State battles among the elite at the 2008 Viper Invitational

Viper Invitational

One evening in late May, six members of the Tri-State Special Operations Command paintball team embarked on a fifteen-hour journey to La Pointe, Indiana and represented TSSOC in their first Viper Invitational paintball tournament. Produced by scenario director Kerry "Viper" Rosenberry, this 300-player "by invitation only" event promised to offer the finest in scenario paintball play and Tri-State's warriors could not wait for the battle to begin!

The American forces, all under the command of Christopher "Professor" Westfahl of Team Ambush Alpha, were comprised of the finest players and teams the East coast had to offer, including Yankee Division, Red Raiders, and the 13th Legionnaires to name a few. The Americans were pitted against the organized and battle-hardened North Vietnamese forces, made up of many local teams who promised to put up a strong resistance.

The site for the scenario was the legendary Sherwood Forest Paintball, one of the most complex and unique fields in the entire country. Inspired by the story of Robin Hood and consisting of a dozen elaborate, medieval-style fortifications, Sherwood Forest is one of the most fascinating fields TSSOC had ever played on and was the perfect backdrop for this event. "Sherwood Forest was an excellent field, with a huge variety of terrain," said TSSOC's Sgt. Michael "Chops" Zigon, "whether in a daytime firefight or stalking the OpFor in extreme night play, this field was always full of surprises!"

The 26-hour event began flawlessly, with the Americans using their "airborne assault" abilities to bring the fight to the entrenched North Vietnamese forces, taking control of the Sherwood Castle early in the battle and using it to anchor our early operations. The airborne assault was a unique form of insertion that the Americans used to reach various parts of the field with impunity, and the General took full advantage of this tactic. TSSOC was in its element as the battle raged into the night, and Tri-State's extensive stealth and night-ops training were put to the test as the two sides stalked one another in the darkness. "The night play was incredible," said TSSOC Sgt. Glen "Gadget" Fedon, "without a doubt the most intense I have ever experienced." The next morning, after late night stand-down of arms, the furious battle resumed. Tri-State was at the forefront of the fighting, taking objectives and running missions. The stage was set for an ultimate final battle between these two elite opposing forces, a battle that would decide the outcome of the event.

At the end of the final battle, the objectives belonged to the forces of the North Vietnamese team, who secured victory over their embattled yet nonetheless resolute American foes. It was a hard-fought victory for General Hawk and his North Vietnamese regulars, and Tri-State congratulates them on their hard-earned victory. Both teams left everything they had on the field and Tri-State is looking forward to next year's exciting Viper Invitational!

4/26/08 - TSSOC and attackers score a win at Castle Conquest XXV!

Castle Conquest XXV

The paintball gods shone again at EMR, making for a beautiful weekend of paintball at Castle Conquest XXV. TSSOC brought four members to this long-standing paintball tradition and helped turned the tide for an attackers win, taking the castle in three and a half hours!

Leading the attackers was Joint Fury, who organized massive pushes and coordinating players throughout the game. Tri-State started up the corner of walls three and four, immediately noticing that wall three was reconfigured - adding to the range of the defender's fire. TSSOC's Silence and Professor used a wave of attackers hitting the middle of wall 4 as distraction and ran down the road of the 3/4 corner to hit the outer wall, only to get obliterated from the new ramparts from wall 3!

The team continued to focus on the 3/4 corner, coordinating covering fire from the left, waiting for a wave from the right, and then finally making it to the castle wall! Professor was the first TSSOC member into the castle but got taken out with a well-placed goggle-shot. Cuz, Silence, and DeathX followed shortly thereafter. TSSOC relayed their success to Joint Fury who immediately implemented the same strategy on a massive scale that led to victory!

Tri-State Special Operations Command would like to thank Blue and his staff at EMR Paintball for adding a welcome twist to the game with the castle change and for providing a great weekend of paintball! A special thank you goes to the referees of the game who were fearless and always on point!

4/13/08 - Tri-State Special Operations Command leads Allied forces at the West Point Big Game!

West Point Big Game

Reveille sounded at 0600 for the members of TSSOC as we woke from our camp at the U.S. Military Academy to gear up for the 2008 West Point Big Game. TSSOC's XO Chris "TOPHER" Matsinger was honored with the position of Executive Officer for the American Forces, serving under American General Paul "VECTOR" DiNunno of Yankee Division - long-time friends of TSSOC. Topher led his batallion from the field for most of the day, gathering objectives and providing situation reports back to HQ.

Communication, coordination and control were the orders of the day for TSSOC. Tri-State squads led raids on key objectives and provided reinforcement wherever needed on the field, while relaying vital intel back to command. TSSOC was involved on every angle of the front - from engaging positions by the river on the east to supporting the tank battles that raged in the western valley.

In the end the Allies were unable to defeat the Koreans, who were successful at maintaining hold over several key objectives early on, giving them a point lead that carried through the weekend. There were very few missions to speak of - this game was mostly about controlling the battlefield and the overcoming the challenging terrain. The Korean forces pushed the battle lines uphill all day Saturday and successfully defended the field used for the final battle on Sunday for a well-earned victory.

This was Tri-State's first trip to the West Point game and we now know what we have been missing! It was the most mil-sim scenario we have ever played! The atmosphere, the frenzied and intense effects of helo fly-bys, the sim-arti rounds, the 240s and 249s firing away, and the military-grade smoke grenades were absolutely outstanding!

We would like to thank the cadets at West Point who ran a great game! The refs were everywhere and really kept things in line throughout the weekend. In addition, the cadets and all the military staff were extremely professional, courteous and helpful at all times. We salute you, gentlemen!

3/22/08 - Tri-State wins an MVP at Battle for Mt. Samat, PocoLoco Paintball!

Battle for Mt. Samat

Heavy snow fell on the morning of March 22nd at PocoLoco Paintball in Eagleville, PA. Despite the weather, teams like Tri-State Special Operations Command, Ambush Alpha, Cursed Company, 13th Legionnaires, House Solstice, RT Raiders, PA Brew Crew, Red Raiders, Team STC, MBP Militia, Team Logos, Deception of Truth, and many others came out to support Ambush Alpha's "Battle of Mt. Samat" game produced by Brian "Rephy" Reph.

Unique in format, the field was broken down into sections and players played four quarters, advancing to a new section of the field with new missions and flag locations each quarter. This year had the Japanese starting at the bottom of the hill fighting up steep, rocky terrain to gain ground on the Americans. Generalling for the American forces was CamoCannon from the 13th Legionnaires and his XO was Nyxx of House Solstice. The Japanese were led by TomCat from Ambush Alpha and Chosen from Cursed Company.

Outnumbered, many Japanese players resorted to daring runs to flip flags - some opting to leave their markers behind so they could move faster through the woods amongst heavy enemy fire. TSSOC spent most of the day battling fiercely on the front line and completed the missions as assigned. Late in the game the Japanese forces with TSSOC launched a strong offensive and proceeded to make a effective push up the right side of the hill until ordered to halt and hold their ground.

The American forces took the victory for the game. At the end of the day, TSSOC's own DeathX was awarded Most Valuable Player for his relentless efforts on the field!

3/1/08 - TSSOC wins MVT and MVP awards at Operation Market Garden, Splatbrothers Paintball Park

Market Garden

On a cold Virginia morning, Tri-State Special Operations Command made their way to SplatBrothers Paintball park in Hopewell, Virginia to aid the American forces in the R.A.W. Series "Operation Market Garden" scenario. The highly-organized and battle-hardened German teams were poised to make this a hard-fought game for the American side, and TSSOC eagerly awaited the challenge.

TSSOC took to the field right from the opening whistle, at first fighting vigorously to repulse a full-scale German assault on the American Headquarters. TSSOC members organized their fellow Americans to repel the German onslaught and once their HQ was secure, TSSOC led the American counter-attack by completing missions, shoring up positions, directing reinforcements to where they were needed, and working closely with American command on battle strategy and tactics. But the tide of battle quickly turned as the German forces took key field positions and repeatedly attacked the American HQ. American forces were on the defensive for a good part of the day as we fought wave after wave of the German offensive.

After an afternoon of hard fighting, the American side was far behind in the point count - the final battle was the only chance to make up that difference. Despite the best efforts of TSSOC and their American allies, the German teams were able to secure all of the final objectives and win the game! We congratulate them on their hard-fought victory and sincerely enjoyed the intense opposition and fair gameplay they gave us all day long!

For their efforts on the field, TSSOC was awarded Most Valuable Team by the American general, and TSSOC's own Elff earned Most Valuable Player honors for his leadership role. We would also like to congratulate Yankee Division on the Most Feared Opponent award for the American forces! TSSOC members had an excellent time in Virginia, and we are looking forward to our next scenario game at Splatbrothers Paintball!

2/4/08 - Tri-State Special Operations Command earns Most Valuable Team and Most Valuable Player honors at Castaway Island Scenario Game in Oahu, Hawaii

Castaway Island

As dawn broke over the Pacific Ocean, four members of Tri-State Special Operations Command set out to take part in Hawaii's first-ever paintball Scenario game: Island Paintball's Castaway Island! Located on the eastern side of the island of Oahu, Island paintball was an absolutely gorgeous field that offered the very best in jungle-type scenario play. With terrain that promised to test the limits of TSSOC's skills and some of the most friendly and hospitable hosts in the business, TSSOC was eager to begin the battle!

Playing on the side of the swashbuckling Pirates, TSSOC members led the way, introducing their own brand of high intensity milsim scenario play and setting the pace of the game. Tri-State took charge on the field leading numerous missions, reconnoitering the enemy HQ, assassinating the enemy General and defending the Pirate base toward the latter part of the game. TSSOC's infiltration and ambush training served the Pirate team well, as they used their skills stalking through six foot tall grass and dense foliage to repeatedly eliminate the leadership of their Castaway foes! "This is one of the most unique and fun fields I've ever played," said SGT Simon "Bulldog" Nadler "The field owners were some of the friendliest I've ever seen in all my years of playing paintball. I was proud to represent TSSOC in Hawaii's first scenario game!"

After two days of hard fighting, the game came down to a single, final battle. Despite the tenacity of the TSSOC and their Pirate allies, the Castaways were able to pull out a victory and we congratulate them and thank them for a great game. For their efforts, TSSOC was awarded the Most Valuable Team award, and SFC Pete "Keg" Walker was awarded the Most Valuable Player award by the Pirate General, Lyndi "Scarlet" Cox of Team Lockdown. TSSOC had a fantastic time, and looks forward to our next game in the Aloha State!

ECX Paintball Park

Tri-State has signed a multi-year partnership with ECX Paintball Park, a brand-new scenario paintball and woodsball field located in northern Maryland just southwest of Wilmington, Delaware. ECX is headed up by Mike Lashbrook, Rick Carver and Jeff "Gizzmo" Woomer. Rick Carver, owner and newcomer to the paintball industry says that he is both excited and very pleased to have such positive feedback from everyone who has played at the park so far. "We have some really great plans for additional fields and already started building! I predict that we will have to double our 65 acres before long." Rick has owned and operated very succesful businesses outside of paintball for almost 30 years and says he has never had so much fun or met so many enthusiastic, fun folks since getting involved with the paintball world. Rick says he is looking forward to growing and building ECX Paintball park with Mike, Gizz, and Neuge.

The ECX management team invited members from TSSOC to come visit the park and talk about plans for the future. "TSSOC really caught our attention. We noticed how these guys played and interacted on the field with strangers, providing assistance and including walk-ons to make the game fun for everyone. These guys are HARD CORE and very aggressive, yet at the same time displayed constant teamwork with fair play and great sportsmanship," Rick said.

"We all are excited that TSSOC decided to call ECX Paintball park their home. Everyone can look forward to some great games and special events in the very near future. What a great fit! The ECX Management Team would like to just say welsome TSSOC!"

The growing 65-acre park currently has three main playing fields - the Firebase, a large reinforced military base surrounded by numerous bunkers, bordered with woods and trails on three sides; Dark Triangle, a "pure woodsball" field with amazing cover among the trees, brush, trails and natural bunkers; and the Ho-Chi-Min Trail, a long, slender field bordered by a river on one side and a steep drop-off on the other, peppered with great props and reinforced bunkers. A fourth field is currently under construction and ECX staff expect to have eight playing fields by spring of 2008.

ECX prides themselves on having the best reffing in scenario paintball. ECX head ref and Scenario Manager "Gizzmo" has played and reffed in every pro paintball circuit today. Gizzmo will be running a Ref Certification program where refs will learn the field rules, safety protocols, and how to handle situations to make sure that the sport of scenario paintball is fair, safe, and fun for everyone.

TSSOC is proud and excited to call ECX Paintball Park home and looks forward to a lot of great games with amazing people! Visit www.ecxpaintball.com for event details and game schedule. For location and directions, visit our Field Locator.

10/13/07 - Tri-State leads the Allied Forces at Russian Front

Russian Front

On October 13, 29 members of Tri-State Special Operations Command played in USANA Paintball's "Russian Front" scenario game. TSSOC's CO James "Big Dino" DiNardo had the honor of commanding the Russian forces against the Germans led by Dave "Freak" McKnight of the 13th Legionnaires. From the starting whistle to the end-game horn, TSSOC and our allies battled fearlessly to gain ground, complete missions, and defend the high-valued flag stations throughout the field. Early in the day, the German forces seemed to overwhelm Russian positions, massing troops strategically to attack weak points in wave after wave of assault. Meanwhile, Russian players brokered multiple deals with the third-party entity "Tyrell Corp" in an attempt to turn the tide of battle. Though the Russians held a tremendous amount of the field, the Germans were able to penetrate the defensive positions and push relentlessly towards the Russian headquarters. Despite the ferocity of the German attacks, Russian headquarters remained virtually unscathed for the duration of the game thanks to the tenacity of TSSOC personnel and others who provided base defense.

When dusk fell, after a short game break, the Russians battled back from a tremendous point deficit, holding many flag stations and sending missions deep into enemy territory, bringing the score much closer than it had been all day. TSSOC was constantly on the front lines, pushing at enemy-held flag stations, guarding Russian positions, and running missions through the night to within meters of the enemy command post.

The following morning, a one hour final battle was held, pitting the Germans against the Russians in an intense close-quarters fight for the final points to be awarded. Russian Allies fought valiantly against a larger German force, as well as Tyrell, who broke their treaties with the Russians in the final hour of play. Though outnumbered, Russian Troops joined General Big Dino in a valiant defense of Russian HQ, and managed to keep the Germans from overrunning their defensive positions.

At the post-game awards ceremony, Bigdino was honored to award the MVP award to Justin "Darth" Mausner of MBP Militia, and the MVT award to Gods of War. TSSOC would like to thank them and all the other teams and players who fought alongside us. Though we did not return home with the win, we played hard against a tough opponent, played with honor and respect, and most importantly - had a great time!

9/15/07 - TSSOC takes Most Valuable Team and Most Formidable Opponent at Operation Cobra!

Operation Cobra

On September 15, 2007 Tri-State took part in Splatbrothers Paintball Park's "Operation Cobra: Allied Break Out" scenario in Hopewell Virginia. This marked TSSOC's first official event in Virginia and we had a fantastic game! At the start of battle, the American General ordered Tri-State to hold the entire left flank of the field - where we pushed all the way to the rear defenses of the German lines! The German forces held their flag stations, but TSSOC and the rest of the American forces fought back hard and swift - securing over three quarters of the field, harassing and attacking the German HQ throughout the day. Tri-State completed every mission assigned and assisted with the successful completion of others by holding key field positions, preventing enemy forces from interfering.

In the final battle, TSSOC was tasked with securing one of two flag stations. In less than 15 minutes of ferocious combat, TSSOC secured the first flag and set up a perimeter to defend against would-be German runners, then helped lead the charge to secure the second flag! Tri-State held both positions to the whistle marking the end of the game and an well-earned victory!

At the post-game awards ceremony, American General "Mars" awarded TSSOC with the Most Valuable Team award, for our dominating presence on the field, our consistent completion of assigned missions, as well as our ferociousness in battle! German General "Farva" also honored TSSOC, with the coveted Most Formidable Opponent award. During his presentation, Farva said "What else is there to say? Y'all put the fear of god into us wherever you went!" Thank you Mars and Farva for your recognition!

TSSOC would like to thank Ronn, Don and all the referees at Splatbrothers for their incredible hospitality, hard work on and off the field, as well as a great weekend overall! To all the players both American and German; it was an honor playing with you all. We look forward to meeting on the field once more!

8/19/07 - Tri-State M.O.U.T. training

M.O.U.T. training

TSSOC spent a cold, rainy Sunday at PocoLoco Paintball drilling in CQB techniques and squad movement, communication and coordination training. Headed up by Drill Instructor SPC Bulldog, three squads practiced breaching structures and eliminating multiple targets in a live-fire exercise. Squads took turns attacking and defending, with heavy emphasis placed on fire control, muzzle discipline and squad communication.

At the completion of the training evolution, recruits Josh "Fallout" Carlos and Jared "Juice" Bosco received their TSSOC patch and were officially accepted into Tri-State Special Operations Command. Additionally, PFC Mike "Chops" Zigon was increased in rank to Specialist, and SSG Dave "Elff" Dietz was awarded the rank of Warrant Officer 1. Both members are truly deserving of such recognition for their continued devotion to the team.

7/14/07 - Tri-State Special Operations Command and Allied Teams dismantle German War Machine at ION 2007!

ION 2007

On July 14th at 12:00 PM, a world record 4,320 players engaged in the largest paintball game in history - the 2007 Invasion of Normandy at Skirmish, USA. Tri-State Special Operations Command poured onto Omaha Beach nearly 40 strong, leading the assault on the German fortifications, paving the way for the ensuing Allied victory.

TSSOC and the other Allied forces attacked with swiftness and with tenacity, securing the beach and breaching the German defenses to quickly establish Headquarters. As General Phil Whalen and XO James "Big Dino" DiNardo (TSSOC's own CO) commanded the flow of the battle from the safety of Allied HQ, TSSOC made its presence felt throughout the entire playing field - running crucial missions deep within German territory, leading the rout on the German's counter-offensive on the beach, and providing base security throughout the day and night at the HQ.

When the German defeat seemed imminent at the dawn of day two, the game took a surprising turn when the previously allied French broke treaties and attacked the Allied HQ and troop positions across the field, providing a new and formidable foe for the Allied forces to battle! The end of game siren sounded, and the echoes of combat died down, and a tremendous cheer erupted from every Allied soldier!

ION 2007

At the closing ceremony, Allied command staff gave a heartfelt thanks to their forces for the hardfought weekend that ultimately led to victory. TSSOC and Tippmann awarded Allied MVP David Thompson of team Capital Offense a brand new X-7 marker for his vital intel reports throughout the day. TSSOC would also like to recognize Allied MVT Team Delaware for their outstanding performance on the field and contribution to base security.

TSSOC would like to thank the players, the Skirmish staff and referees, and all those teams and players involved in the planning and logistical facets of the event for making it a great weekend! We would also like to thank Tippmann Sports and US Military Gear for their continued support of TSSOC at scenario games as well as Blackcell Customs for providing BigDino with the most amazing custom paintball vest ever made! Congratulations Allies! This victory was earned and deserved!

6/2/07 - TSSOC battles the VC at NJ Nam 2007!

NJ NAM 07

June 2 marked TSSOC's second attendance of Pyro Paintball's NJ NAM, which was held at Cross Keys Paintball and Municipal Airport in Cross Keys, NJ. TSSOC was tasked with defense of a critically important region of the battlefield while simultaneously running missions deep behind enemy lines leading other organized teams and walk on players alike to the front of the fight. NJ NAM 2007 was one of the most evenly matched games we have played all season and we fought hard all day as we traded paint with the VC.

This event proved to be a great time both on and off the field. TSSOC erected base camp and stayed overnight both Friday and Saturday to enjoy the festivities. We had a blast hanging out with all the teams and players we have met over the years - Ambush Alpha, Blue's Crew, Team Pain, Undertakers and Yankee Division to name a few. And thanks to all who were able to attend our TSSOC movie night! We enjoyed your company and look forward to seeing you at future events!

At the end of the Scenario, TSSOC accepted two new recruits on the team. Congratulations to Bob "Boss" Bosco and Steven "Wraith" Hellman - Both players scored very high marks throughout the TSSOC evaluation process and were awarded their team patch and rank to mark their acceptance to the unit.

Additionally, three TSSOC team members were increased in rank by Command as a result of their continued outstanding performance. PFC Adam "Pain" Bolder was awarded the rank of Specialist. PFC Sam "Professor" Sheng was increased in rank to Specialist. SPC Tom "Silence" McGinn was awarded the rank of Sergeant. All three members exemplify what it means to be a member of TSSOC and we are proud to have them!

We would like to extend our congratulations to the VC opposing force who were an outstanding enemy achieving just a few critical points at the end of the game to squeeze out the win.

4/29/07 - TSSOC joins the assault at Castle Conquest XXIII

Castle Conquest XXIII

On April 28th, 29th and 30th, TSSOC attended Castle Conquest XXIII at EMR Paintball park in New Milford, PA. Castle Conquest is not only the largest Castle battle in paintball, but a whole three-day event with a variety of different games all weekend! On Friday, TSSOC's own Silence took First Place in the Pistol Challenge and was awarded a brand new Tiberius Arms TAC-8!

Saturday marked the main event, where TSSOC took the role of attacking the castle with several other top scenario teams including Blue's Crew, Ambush Alpha, Undertakers, and Ragnarok fighting along side over 1000 in attendance. The uphill battle to take the Castle was intense and all fought hard for more than four hours to breech the castle, but in the end the defenders earned a well deserved win! Michael "Blue" Hanse, owner of EMR and head of renowned "Blue's Crew" stated, "Having TSSOC here was great! You guys really know how to represent this sport with honor and great game play!" TSSOC looks forward to playing with Blue and his Crew again at NJNAM in June and a big 'Thank You' to everyone at EMR Paintball for a great event and some absolutely fantastic new paint!

At the conclusion of the first castle siege, TSSOC held a ceremony to admit two new members to the team. Bobby "Dealer" D'Elia has played with us in a number of games including the Battle of Berlin at Skirmish, USA. Bobby was looking for a well-organized team that he could be a part of and brings a fantastic attitude to the game!

Tony "Reaper" Himonitis has played woodsball for ten years and spent seventeen years in the Army Reserves, so he knows what he is doing at a scenario game. Tony was with us at Stalingrad and Iwo Jima. Both players scored very high marks throughout the TSSOC evaluation process and were awarded their team patch and rank to mark their acceptance to the unit.

TSSOC command staff also awarded rank to two members for their achievements and performance. PFC Terence "Tazman" Sellers was awarded the rank of Specialist for his commitment to the team as TSSOC's Media Officer. Also, PFC Kyle "Shadow" Hallowell was increased in rank to Specialist for his continued outstanding performance on the field.

3/31/07 - Tri-State Special Operations Command takes MVT at the
Battle of Iwo Jima!

MVT, Battle of Iwo Jima

On March 31st 2007, Tri-state Special Operations Command fought for the Japanese forces in Iwo Jima: The Battle for Mt. Suribachi, a scenario written by "Rephy" of Ambush Alpha and hosted by Poco Loco Paintball. With only 250 players in attendance (most of whom are on well established scenario teams) the competition was fiercer than ever. Intense battles were waged throughout the day as the opposing forces pressed each other for the advantage. TSSOC functioned both as the front line of defense against the invading Americans as well as a mission squad assigned to take objectives and score points. Against incredible odds TSSOC managed to make their opponents pay dearly for every foot of the field while running mission after mission to score points for the Japanese forces. Though the day mirrored history and culminated with an American victory and flag-raising atop the ridge, the Japanese forces made it a tough battle!

In recognition of our leadership, tenacity, and sportsmanship both on and off the field, Tri-state Special Operations Command was awarded the Most Valuable Team award by Japanese Command! Moreover, TSSOC was even more honored to see one of our own, Kyle "Shadow" Hallowell, receive the Most Valuable Player award! His hard work, intensity, and ability to get the job done was noticed at every level of the Japanese command, and it earned him this enormous tribute (on his birthday, no less!) Watch for Shadow to continue to make a name for himself each time he takes the field!

Congratulations to both the Japanese and American teams for an outstanding, honorable, and really fun day!

3/27/07 - French Creek Outfitters sponsors TSSOC!

French Creek Outfitters

Tri-State Special Operations Command is pleased to announce a partnership with French Creek Outfitters, a family-friendly establishment which caters to many aspects of the outdoors. 3/10/07 - New troops added to the team!

New members

Five new applicants were cleared for membership in the Tri-State Special Operations Command (TSSOC) during March, increasing our active roster to 30 troops.

Gerard "Kahn" Connolly first played alongside us at the Battle of Berlin (BoB) in October 2006 and made an immediate and formidable impression as a warrior that never says die. We found him to be a perfect match for us through his teamwork, perseverance, and just being the hard-charging, fun-loving paintball leader!

Henri "Tiny" Gaudin is, all kidding aside, a giant among men! We also first met Tiny at ION and then at BoB and we were thrilled to receive him as an applicant, and equally honored to offer him a place within our ranks! We expect Tiny to achieve huge accolades in events to come!

Simon "Bulldog" Nadler's acceptance was long in coming, from his first days playing alongside us at S'Grad 06, Simon proved to be almost invisible to the enemy until it was too late. The Bulldog has shown us he has the tenacity and skills that compliment this team!

BJ "Hustler" Reider came to the TSSOC late last year and was impressive right out of the gate. His respect and dedication to the game, as well as his superb gunsmithing knowledge and skills, are welcome addition to his bravery and first-rate presence on the field.

Mike "Chops" Zigon's frocking was also long in the making, but his dedication and determination has paid off for the TSSOC in terms of the skill he brings to the field. Mike also first played alongside us at S'Grad 06 and at that and every event easily proved his value to the team.

All in all these new players are all skilled in their craft and superbly compliment the TSSOC with strength of character, resolve, the ability to put the paint where needed, and inspire those around them to get it done! We're proud to add them to our ranks and look forward to continued victories and good times as a team! please join us in welcoming to the TSSOC and congratulating them on the same!

3/10/07 - Tri-State Special Operations Command combat tests new Tippmann X-7 markers at The Battle for Stalingrad 2007

Stalingrad 2007

Tri-State Special Operations Command (TSSOC) began fielding the new Tippmann X-7 paintball marker at the Battle for Stalingrad, held at Skirmish U.S.A. on March 10th, 2007.

"We put our first group of players on the field with new, unmodified versions of the Tippmann X-7 marker and we were very pleased with the results" said TSSOC Commanding Officer Major James "BigDino" DiNardo, who brandished a new X-7 with custom-camo paint designed to match the TSSOC uniform. "The marker is lighter, and easier to sight down the weapon than it's predecessor while still maintaining the reliability we've come to expect on the field. We look forward to continuing to evaluate, modify and customize these markers for increased performance as we work to best represent Tippmann in 2007"

The highly contested battle was a challenge for TSSOC - who contributed personnel for the Russian Command Team, Russian HQ Security, and Battlefield Coordination and Control. TSSOC personnel and led units of several hundred players, including organized teams as well as walk-ons, to keep constant pressure on the German forces throughout the day while running a number of successful missions for command. At the end of the game, BigDino was awarded a plaque in recognition for his role as Stalingrad Russian XO and battlefield commander, for his and the team's contributions to the Russian effort throughout the day.

A special congratulations to Skirmish USA in their first successful attempt at their new game format and to the German War Machine for their efforts that ultimately produced the win. The GWM represents our most formidable opponent to date and we look forward to the challenge of future battles together as friend or foe.

11/19/06 - TSSOC welcomes new members to the unit!

New members

Tri-State Special Operations Command admitted six new members this week to bring our team ranks to a total of 25 active players.

Adam "Pain" Bolder was drawn to the group dynamic of the team - the feeling of brotherhood that we all bring to the field - as well as the dedication, training and professionalism that everyone strives to put forth.

Kate "Sonic" Hedl came to several practice games with TSSOC and also fought alongside the team at Berlin. Kate is a hardcore player with a fearless attitude - and a welcome addition to our ranks.

Sam "Professor" Sheng has played alongside TSSOC personnel at PocoLoco who were impressed with his speed and agility. Sam came out to play with us at the Battle of Berlin and knew then that he wanted to be part this team.

James "Cuz" Sauselein provided support for the team at IoN and Berlin. James is a heavy weapons specialist and is also working on building a custom tank for the 2007 season.

Chris "Shuggah" Gibson was with us at IoN and plays regularly with TSSOC team members at PocoLoco. Chris is also a youth mentor and volunteers at numerous community events.

Jay "Tank" Young, another IoN veteran, was looking for a skilled group of disciplined, committed players to grow with as a team. Jay loves the competetiveness of scenario paintball and the comraderie he saw in our team.

TSSOC held a formal evaluation at Iron Triangle Paintball to test the skills of these recruits. After numerous training exercises and a hard-fought day of woodsball, these recruits were awarded their TSSOC patch and welcomed to the team!

10/28/06 - Tri-State Special Operations Command takes Allied MVT in 2006 Battle for Berlin!

Allied MVT, Battle for Berlin

"The Battle of Berlin" was fought at Skirmish USA in Jim Thorpe, PA on Saturday October 28, 2006. This scenario proved to be another epic battle and was a great way to wrap up the 2006 scenario season for the team. The event attendance was well over 1000 people and everyone was looking to bring a massive effort to the event. The firefights proved to be huge!

The sky opened up and the downpour continued as the battle began. The weather was brutal throughout the game, as Tri-State was successful in harassing the German War Machine - pushing their defenses back and forcing several retreats while preserving ammo for the final push. We eliminated tanks, penetrated enemy defenses, and worked to lead hundreds of personnel - both American and Russian - to punish our enemy.

Against awesome firepower and opposition, Tri-State was able to breach the German Defenses of the Tippman Castle with just a few minutes in the game to bring the American flag to just within yards of our ultimate goal.

Tri-State Special Operations Command was awarded the Most Valuable Team for our performance on the field! Congratulations go out to all German, Russian and American teams for this event. Everyone was a winner!

9/17/06 - TSSOC expands its ranks with new members

New members

Three new operators have joined Tri-State Special Operations Command. Eric "Smoke" Humphrey fought hard along side TSSOC members at Tribal Conquest III. Smoke has a passion for custom ordnance and spends countless hours building devices, traps and mines from scratch. As such, he also takes on the role as Team Ordnance Officer.

Terence "Tazman" Sellers wanted to start his own mil-sim paintball team but had no luck. He found exactly what he was looking for in TSSOC - organization, teamwork, honor and loyalty. He also served with TSSOC at ION. Tazman has been playing paintball for 15 years and is also a member of the Goodwill Fire Company in West Chester, PA.

John "Thunder" DePaolantonio joined TSSOC to be part of a unified team with great players. Thunder played along side several members at rec-ball outings and made an outstanding showing at ION 2006.

These recruits proved they have what it takes to be members of an elite squad of tactical paintball enthusiasts. A formal training event and tryout was held for final evaluation at Iron Triangle Paintball. At the end of the training event, these recruits were awarded their team patch and rank to mark their offical and well-deserved acceptance into Tri-State.

7/16/06 - Tri-State Special Operations Command leads Allied victory at the 2006 Invasion of Normandy!

ION 2006

TSSOC was the Allied Field Command Team for the Invasion of Normandy (ION), working directly with the Allied CO and XO. This year's ION, held at Skirmish USA, also seized the record as the largest paintball game EVER played, with over 4,000 players taking the field. Tri-State lead the initial beach assault while in direct coordination and joint leadership of the Airborne Forces. The team worked relentlessly for two days leading a tremendous number of troops to ultimately defeat the German army!

The German War Machine has led the Axis victory for six years. It was the sole mission of the TSSOC to break this streak. Our victory was hard-fought and all of the Allied teams and players dug deep to rally for the win.

At game-end, TSSOC was awarded the Invasion of Normandy 2006 Allied Command Award for leadership and coordination of the entire battle. The team was also recognized in the October issue of Paintball Sports Magazine!

6/11/06 - TSSOC helps bring VC victory at NJ Nam!

NJ Nam 2006

On June 10th and 11th 2006 the Tri-State Special Operations Command participated in the NJ Nam Scenario Game: The Fall of Saigon. Produced by Pyro Paintball Productions and held at USANA Paintball of Elmer, NJ, the NJ Nam event will go down as one of the most exciting scenario paintball games of 2006! From the military re-enactors who acted as Vietnamese civilians to the constant beating of the helicopter overhead, the producers went above and beyond to bring Vietnam to South Jersey.

Fighting for the VC, Tri-State held the line at Saigon all morning. Later in the day while U.S. Forces inserted from the sky, Tri-State found their own form of transportation in The 13th Legionnaires' Tank. The team made multiple tactical inserts and used the armored advantage to drive wedges into the U.S. lines at many crucial points in the game. The leadership from TSSOC also successfully executed many missions per VC command. Be it the woods near Hamburger Hill or the Ho Chi Minh Trail, Tri-State was in the thick of the action for the entire weekend.

TSSOC would like to say a special thanks to Pyro Paintball and USANA for the deluxe accommodations. We would also like to thank all of the teams, players, field staff, and refs for making this event a more than memorable one.

4/29/06 - Tri-State and allied teams rally for the win at Castle Conquest XXI

Castle Conquest XXI

Tri-State was a powerful force at EMR Paintball's annual castle assault, held in New Milford, PA. With over 1,000 players on the field, Saturday's castle battle was one of the most intense on record.

The terrain leading to the castle was an uphill fight against the well-fortified and equipped Blue's Crew and Company, and the combination proved to be a significant and worthy challenge. The battle was fierce and challenging and the defenders were able to lay down punishing fire on the attackers.

This is one of the best fortified castles in paintball and Blue knows how to defend it! Final breach was achieved after several hours, and the completion of all objectives necessary for the win was reached a mere 15 minutes before the imposed time-limit.

Sunday also proved outstanding fun, with many pumps-only rounds played at several different fields and on varied terrain. Tri-State dominated play using 15-year-old Tippmann SL68II pumps! A special thanks to the staff and referees at EMR, Blue's Crew, and all the other teams who were friendly and showed so much comraderie! We look forward to attending in 2007.

4/21/06 - TSSOC sponsored by Atomic Ordnance

Atomic Ordnance

Tri-State Special Operations Command signed a sponsorship deal with Atomic Ordnance, makers of the most reliable grenades in the game, including Big Boys, Lil Betties and Pod Rockets. This reliability is the key reason so many scenario teams prefer the Atomic Ordnance grenades to any other grenade on the market.

"Every grenade I throw is a testament to how awesome these things are! They just dump insane amounts of paint everywhere!" said an enthusiastic Michael "Brick" Sturner of TSSOC.

TSSOC will employ Atomic Ordnance grenades at all scenario games to deliver massive amounts of paint to clear bunkers, structures, and take out groups of opponents with this devistating scenario ordnance.

4/21/06 - New sponsorship from COPS911

3/19/06 - TSSOC Leads Victory at Tribal Conquest III!

Tribal Conquest III

TSSOC took command of the Yellow tribe at the a 12-hour Tribal Conquest scenario battle and won the event, beating out both opposing tribes. The event, produced by Six Foot Under Productions, took an interesting turn this year when Red and Blue tribes joined forces and teamed up against us mid-way through the game! Facing an OpFor twice our size, our tribe continued to hold ground and win the scenario!

Tri-State Special Operations Command leadership setup the command post at the castle while squad leaders ran assault teams to keep pressure on the opposing forces. The firefights raged in the town throughout most of the day. Red and Blue teams coordinated a massive push on the Yellow base mid-day but the Yellow tribe held off the assault.

The crew from Blachole.com came out to On Target Paintball to shoot a podcast of the scenario. Check out video event coverage at Blachole.com featuring TSSOC members DeathX, Terror, and BigDino!

"At games end I was called on stage and given a plaque for 2006 STALINGRAD MVP. I was a bit shocked actually. I don't deserve it. The team does!

Were it not for the exemplary performance of the TSSOC I would not have been chosen. We were a awesome force on the field together. Therefore I would like to share the award with the team. It is a direct result of your combined efforts and guts and proof positive we can do anything!"
